Email provides a timestamped archived record that survives long after the incident. Pair it with the audit log for full traceability.
Send transactional incident emails via the configured SMTP relay. Best paired with Telegram or voice for escalation — email alone is rarely enough for a critical page.

When to pick this
Email is the channel of record. Use it for the paper trail, not the wake-up call.
Email provides a timestamped archived record that survives long after the incident. Pair it with the audit log for full traceability.
Send to a distribution list so adjacent teams (product, support) know an incident is open without being paged themselves.
Warning-level notifications that do not need a wake-up call land cleanly in email and a Slack channel.
Channel profile
Honest about why email is not enough on its own for a critical page.
WardenPoint → SMTP relay → inbox. Some recipient mail providers add minutes of greylisting on first contact.
Included in every plan within fair-use limits. No per-message charge.
We record the SMTP acceptance code from the relay. Reads and ack require another channel.
Mail clients group transactional messages. A truly critical page will be missed if email is the only channel.
Setup
Add the email, verify the address, send a test.
Recipients → Add → Email. Use the address that the responder actually checks (not a forwarder).
$ alex{'@'}example.comWardenPoint sends a confirmation link. The recipient must click before incident emails arrive — protects against typos and BCC mistakes.
$ Confirm via email linkDashboard → Send test → Email. The subject prefix and priority appear so you can wire mail filters in Gmail/Outlook.

Email is the cheapest channel to prove WardenPoint end-to-end. Confirm an address, send a test, watch the audit line appear.
